The Litchfield Area Community Foundation popcorn stand will be open in Central Park Thursdays and Fridays from 5-to-8 p.m. beginning MAY 14^th and continuing through September 25^th.

Meeker Area Partners in Prevention is once again hosting a summer scavenger hunt.  The 7^th annual event officially begins on June 1^st and will conclude on September 11^th.

Participants are encouraged to enjoy various summer activities under the categories of Fun in the Sun, Get Active, Fun at the Fair, Feed Your Soul, and Be Kind. The completed game cards can be turned in to the Meeker County Health & Human Services office at 114 North Holcombe Avenue in Litchfield.  Winners will be drawn on September 15^th and will be notified by phone.

The Angel Dress Program of All Saints Lutheran Church in Darwin will have its 2nd Annual Garage Sale at Lake Marion Ballroom August 5^th, 6^th and 7^th from 9-to-5 and August 8^th from 9-to-2.  They are looking for donations of garage sale items (no large furniture, no large appliances and no electronics), plants, baked goods, gift cards and baskets. Call Gayle Maurer at 320-582-0156 or Patty Hauer at 320-420-3290 for drop off or pick up locations.  The event in August will also include a basket drawing, raffle drawing, and hot dogs, beverages and snacks to purchase.

The St. John’s CCCC of Biscay Ice Cream Social will be on Thursday, JUNE 11^th from 4:30-to-7 p.m. at 13372 Nature Avenue of Hutchinson – follow the signs.  There will be turkey salad sandwiches, BBQs, potato salad, pie, cake, root beer floats, egg coffee and more.

The annual Young People’s Fishing Contest for children 15 and younger – sponsored by the Litchfield Police Association – will be on Wednesday, JUNE 17^th, from 4:30-to-6 p.m. – with registration beginning at 4 p.m. at the JC shelter on the east side of Lake Ripley.  There will be numerous door prizes and trophies will be awarded.  Freewill donations will be accepted, but are not required.

A blood drive will be held at First Lutheran Church in Litchfield on Thursday, JUNE 18^th, from 12:30-to-6:30 p.m.  To make appointments, call 1-800-RED-CROSS or go to RedCrossBlood.org.

Atwater is celebrating its 150^th birthday and there will be a get-together at the museum in Atwater at 500 Pleasant Avenue on Friday, JUNE 19^th from 7-to-9 p.m.  Cookies, lemonade and coffee will be served.

Atwater’s 150^th birthday will be observed with a special event on Saturday, JUNE 20^th from noon-to-2 at the Atwater Methodist Church with a light lunch, accordion music by Larry Johnson from 12:15-to-12:45, kid’s activities and more.

The First Lutheran Church of Cosmos Pie & Ice Cream Social will be on Wednesday, June 24^th from 4:30-to-7 p.m. at the Cosmos Community Center.  There will be ham and hot turkey sandwiches, pasta salads, potato salad, watermelon, cantaloupe, pie, ice cream, coffee and lemonade.

An America 250 Celebration will be held at Friederich’s Park in Eden Valley on Thursday, JULY 2^nd with food and activities at 5:30 p.m. and a program at 6:15 and live music – featuring Lowertown Project – from 6:15-to-8 p.m.  Bring your lawn chairs.

The dates for filing affidavits of candidacy for election for the Litchfield School Board are JULY 14^th through JULY 28^th.  Candidates must file by 5 p.m. on JULY 28^th in the Litchfield School District office in the Wagner Education Building on East 6^th Street.  There is a $2 filing fee.

The Meeker County Master Gardeners’ Garden Tour will be on Tuesday, JULY 14^th, from 5-to-8:30 p.m.  For ticket or more information, call the Extension office at 693-5275.  Tickets are available in advance for $10 at the Extension office, Stockmen’s Greenhouse and at KLFD.  A bus ride is available for an additional fee – departing from the Civic Arena at 5 p.m. JULY 14^th – if you sign up by July 3^rd.  The 5 gardens this year are in southeastern Meeker County between Dassel and Hutchinson.
