Accident in Forest City Township
On May 16th at 3:45 p.m., the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an accident in the 64900 block of 309th Street in Forest City Township. It was reported that a vehicle went into the ditch, collided with multiple large wooden poles, and landed on its side. Meeker County Deputies, Litchfield Rescue, Litchfield Fire, and Mayo Ambulance all responded to the scene. When first responders arrived, they found the vehicle had collided with large wooden poles and the gate area of the Forest City Stockade entrance. The driver, 75-year-old Jane Kelm of Monticello, received non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Meeker Memorial Hospital by Mayo Ambulance. Through a preliminary investigation, it was learned that speed and unfamiliarity with the roads were factors as the driver was unable to maintain their lane around a curve, causing them to run off the road.
