Atwater Threshing Show This Weekend
The Atwater Threshing Show is coming up on Saturday and Sunday from 7-to-4 each day. Ford and Fordson is the featured equipment this year.
Adam Bosch says his family specializes in Ford and Fordson so they will have lots of equipment there, along with some memorabilia in the feature building, and they are hosting the Minnesota chapter of Ford and Fordson tractor collectors and some collectors from Iowa too. He says there’s a tractor parade each day at 1 p.m.
Bosch says they consider themselves a “working” threshing show because the numerous pieces of equipment are moving, not just sitting still, so you can see threshing, corn shelling, shingle making, sorghum syrup making, rope making, blacksmithing, board cutting at the saw mill, and several other demonstrations including items in the gasoline alley. He says the feature this year in the Prairie House will be tablecloths and potholders, and they have a huge kids area.
Bosch says there will be a kid’s pedal pull at 11 a.m. on Sunday with registration beginning at 10:30 and there is a full schedule of bluegrass and country music each day – including Monroe Crossing on Sunday at 2 p.m. He says the Lions have food stands at the Atwater Threshing Show, there’s a worship service on Sunday at 8 a.m., and you can find more details on their Facebook page or at atwaterthreshingdays.com. Admission is $10 for adults and free for children 12 and under. The show is just one mile east of Atwater and about a half mile south on the Kandi-Meeker Road.
