Car/E-Bike Crash North of Cold Spring

On Tuesday afternoon at 3:51, the Stearns County Emergency Communications Center received a report of a crash with injuries at the intersection of County Road 50 and 158th Avenue – just north of Cold Spring. The caller reported it was a car vs. E-bike collision.

When deputies arrived, they found 11-year-old Silas Baker of Cold Spring, who had sustained serious injuries. 24-year-old Lucy Thelen of Avon, was driving a 2013 Ford Edge northbound on Co. Rd. 50 approaching 158th Avenue.  As she neared the location, Silas Baker entered Co. Rd. 50 from 158th Avenue and was struck by the front right side of the Ford Edge.

Baker was treated at the scene by deputies, Cold Spring Fire Department members, and Mayo Ambulance Paramedics. Baker was then transported to the St. Cloud Hospital for further care. Baker was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. Alcohol is not a factor in the crash.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Cold Spring Fire Department and Mayo Ambulance Service.
