Forest City Threshers Roast Beef Dinner
The Forest City Threshers Roast Beef Dinner is coming up on Sunday, April 7th from 11-to-2 at the Thresher Dining Hall. The cost is $15.00 per person, $8 for children from 5 to 12 and free for children 4 and under.
Butch Schulte says the meal will include roast beef, potatoes, corn, bread, and short cake topped with strawberries. He says they are raising funds to continue doing improvements on the depot building.
Schulte says significant progress has been made on the interior of the depot since their show last summer and the exterior will eventually be painted in a deep maroon color. He says there is a model railroad display inside of the depot building.
Schulte says if a railroad had gone through Forest City, it would have provided a big economic boost to the town, but the railroad went through Litchfield in 1869 and the county seat was moved from Forest City to Litchfield. Dave Jutz says a model steam engine is also on display at the depot building. He says the Ladies Activity Building at the Forest City Threshers Site has also been completed and they have filled that building with displays.
Jutz says they will need ladies to display activities during their show the third weekend in August. He says the Threshers also have a pork chop dinner coming up on May 5th and a tractor pull on May 26th. Dave and Butch would like to thank everyone who supports the Forest City Threshers.
