Grant Applications Being Accepted to Prevent Opioid Abuse

Meeker Area Partners in Prevention hosted a public meeting last Friday to talk about the opioid settlement funds and about ways to prevent opioid addiction. Now, Meeker County will begin accepting applications for grants to further prevent opioid abuse. The filing period is from October 1st through the 30th.

Chukuma Ijioma from Meeker County Health & Human Services says organizations can apply for grants of up to $50,000 with their ideas that will help reduce opioid addiction. He says sometimes the drug becomes a problem for people who have had a prescription and it’s a problem here and all over the nation.

Chukuma says he strongly encourages organizations to fill out an application, and a committee will review the applications after the filing period. He says you can find a link at meekercountymn.gov.
