Man Dies in Cold Spring Stabbing

A man is dead and another is in custody following a stabbing in Cold Spring Saturday evening. Just after 8:30 p.m., officers were called to the 400 block of 8th Avenue North on a report of an assault. Upon arrival, they located a man suffering from an apparent stab wound.

Law enforcement and medical personnel attempted life-saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Another man at the residence was taken into custody and is being held at the Stearns County Jail pending formal charges. There is no ongoing threat to the public. The identity of the deceased will be released following formal identification by the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office and notification of next of kin.

The incident remains under investigation by the Cold Spring/Richmond Police Department. The Cold Spring/Richmond Police Dept. was assisted by the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, MN Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, Avon Police Dept., Cold Spring Fire Dept. and Rescue and Mayo Ambulance.
