“Mary Poppins” Production Opens Thursday Evening

Litchfield Community Theatre’s summer musical “Mary Poppins” will open this Thursday at 7 p.m. Shows are also Friday and Saturday nights at 7 p.m. and Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock in the Bernie Aaker Auditorium.

Director Tim Nelson says they had a great turn-out for auditions at the end of May, they’ve been rehearsing the past 6 weeks, and the cast of about 50 is ready to perform for audiences. He says Litchfield Community Theatre has never done “Mary Poppins” before and they wanted to do a special show for their 50th anniversary.

Nelson says “Mary Poppins” tickets are available at litchfieldcommunitytheatre.com or at Litchfield Community Education (693-2354) and they will also be sold at the door. He says, as it’s the 50th anniversary, Litchfield Community Theatre has scheduled extra productions this year so they did “Murder on the High Cs” in May and they will do the Broadway musical version of “A Christmas Carol” in December.
