Meeker County Board Meeting
The Meeker County Board of Commissioners has moved to approve of a resolution authorizing the development and oversight of Housing Support services for a Litchfield HRA project.
Minnesota has a program called the Housing Support program which pays for room and board for seniors and adults with disabilities who have low incomes and those meeting the federal definition of homelessness. The Litchfield Housing Redevelopment Authority has proposed a 30-unit housing project. To meet certain funding requirements, the HRA would like to designate 10 of those units under the Housing Support program. They are asking for a commitment from Meeker County to support a 10-unit Housing Support program within their housing project. The Commissioners approved of the resolution which was presented by Health & Human Services Director Tina Schenk.
Also – the Meeker County Board approved of reappointing Kim Dolan, representing Litchfield, and Brent Bengtson, representing Eden Valley, to the EDA Board, both for six-year terms which will expire on June 3, 2032. The Commissioners also appointed Paul Johnson and Darren Sombke to the Canvas Board as requested by County Financial Officer Heather Lemieux as two County Commissioners are required to be on the Canvas Board, following the primary and general elections this year.
County Administrator Andrew Letson spoke to the Board about the completion of the Beacon GIS project which was made possible with a state grant. It enables the public to find specific information about parcels of property in Meeker County. Letson also reminded the Commissioners that the June 16th meeting will be held at 4:30 p.m.
On a related note – Andy Carlson has filed for the Meeker County Commissioner District 1 seat and Steve Schmitt has filed for reelection to District 5.
