Seeking Community Members and Organizations to serve on the Community Response to Opioid Program Advisory Council
Meeker Area Partners in Prevention is seeking community members and community organization representatives to serve on the Community Response to Opioid Program Advisory Council. The Council will review upcoming settlement funding applications and make recommendations to the Meeker County Board of Commissioners for the use of available opioid settlement funds.
Meeker County Public Health Educator Rachel Nelson says community members with experience and professional knowledge related to substance use and mental health recovery fields are especially encouraged to consider volunteering. She says the Advisory Council will play an important role in helping to ensure that the funds are used effectively.
Nelson says the deadline to apply to be on the settlement council is September 1st and you can email Kay Winterfeldt at kay.winterfeldt@co.meeker.mn.us if you are interested. She says the Meeker County Board along with Meeker Area Partners in Prevention will prepare a request for proposal for opioid settlement funding by October 1st and then organizations and programs may apply for grants starting in October with funds expected to be distributed by January of 2027. More details about the opioid settlement funds and the grant cycle may be found on the county’s website – meekercountymn.gov in the “services” category.
