Three Bands Performing at Songs of Summer Festival

The annual Songs of Summer Festival in Litchfield is just two weeks away. The big event is scheduled for Friday, August 14th at Memorial Park on Lake Ripley, with gates opening at 4 p.m. and the music from 5-to-11 p.m.

Lorie Kruse says Vintage Revival will start performing at 5 o’clock, followed by South 40 from 6:15-to-7:45 and then Shirts and Skins from 8-to-11 p.m. She says they’ve had lots of positive comments about the location as children are able to use the Splash Pad and the playground at Memorial Park, and this year, Reds, Whites & Brews will provide shuttle service from Lake Ripley School to Memorial Park.

Kruse says the Songs of Summer Festival is a free event, but they do accept freewill donations to help cover expenses. She says they have some raffle tickets left and the grand prize for that is $1,000, and that helps with the scholarships that they give out to various youth-related organizations around Meeker County.

Tiana Freidrichs says youth organizations can find scholarship applications on the Songs of Summer Festival website. She says they went with a new headline band this year – Shirts and Skins which will free up a little more money in their budget so that they can do more scholarships and it’s a band that will make you and your whole family want to dance.

Friedrichs says there will be all kinds of food and beverage vendors at the Songs of Summer Festival on August 14th at Memorial Park in Litchfield. She says they would like to thank all of the sponsors who have made donations towards the event and the City and law enforcement personnel who help make it possible.
