Tribute Walk Planned for 25th Anniversary of 911

First responders, fire fighters and law enforcement personnel will be observing the 25th anniversary of the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks with a special observance in downtown Litchfield. There will be the usual 9-11 display of a huge flag at the Highway 12/22 – Depot Street intersection, and there will also be a Tribute Walk.

Litchfield Rescue Squad member Jess Jensrud says September 11th touches everyone and it conjures memories of where one was when the news spread about the high-jacked planes hitting the World Trade Center towers in New York City, the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. and the field in Pennsylvania. She says it especially has meaning for first responders, fire fighters and law enforcement personnel as so many of them lost their lives that day, along with nearly 3,000 citizens.

Jensrud says they are going to do special Tribute Walks through downtown Litchfield this Friday – September 11th – from Depot Street to Central Park and they determined that it is 2,530-feet which correlates to the 110-floors of the World Trade Center. She says they will walk with their gear on and members of the public are welcome to walk with them as they will be doing the Tribute Walk throughout the day on September 11th.
