Visitors Bureau Getting Ready for Light Up Litchfield

The Chamber just hosted the annual Fallin’ into Fun Fest this past Saturday in Litchfield, and now, the Litchfield Visitors Bureau is getting ready for the Light Up Litchfield event. It will be held a few days earlier than normal this year – on November 19th – in Litchfield’s Central Park.

Litchfield Visitors Bureau board member Monica Schreiber says it’s typically been held the Friday after Thanksgiving, but they are going to have it one week before Thanksgiving this year – on Thursday, November 19th. She says Mr. & Mrs. Claus will be in the park that day and there will be carriage rides from 3:30-to-5:15, carolers from 4:45-to-5:15 and a lighting ceremony at 5:45; and the School of St. Philip will be collecting non-perishable food items for the food shelf.

Schreiber says they have two, new, 6-foot elves this year as part of their lighting display, and a new, fatter tree to fill the space in the band shell. She says they are trying to raise $5,000 to be able to once again light the deciduous tree in Central Park.
