The Chili Luncheon at First Presbyterian Church in Litchfield will be on Tuesday from 11-to-1 at 225 North Holcombe Avenue. The cost is $10. Veterans will eat for free.
Rosie Graphenteen says there will be several kinds of chili, cheese, sour cream, onions, cornbread, white bread, bars and coffee. She says the Presbyterian Church used to have a fall supper years ago and it evolved into the Veterans Day chili luncheon.
Graphenteen says the Presbyterian Church is located between the Litchfield Library and Ecumen of Litchfield. She says they have seating downstairs, but also on the main floor for those who cannot make the stairs or who need handicapped accessibility.
Ecumen of Litchfield is encouraging the spirit of giving during the upcoming holiday season. Items are being collected to help seniors and others in the community.
Nicole Larson says they are collecting socks for seniors for the next month or so and they have a puzzle exchange so you could bring a puzzle to donate and take a puzzle. She says they also have the adopt-a-grandparent program in which you can take the name of one of their residents and bring back a gift for them by December 19th.
Larson says they had a pop-up shop on Saturday and they were encouraging people to bring along donations for the Meeker County Food Shelf. She says they held a collection last year during their pop-up shop in November and it helped to generate several items for the food shelf.
Larson says if anyone has questions about the items they are collecting at Ecumen, they may call her at 320-373-6370.
