The Meeker County Board of Commissioners received an update from Xcel Energy officials – led by Community Relations Manager Scott Johnson – regarding a transmission line which will be crossing Meeker County. The line will travel about 180-miles from Lyon County to the Sherco plant in Becker.
The final plan for the line in Meeker County includes a route along much of Highway 4 between Cosmos and Grove City and then zig-zagging from Grove City to Kimball. Negotiations have been completed with landowners along the route in Meeker County.
The Meeker County Commissioners approved of a low quote from Granite City Paving of St. Cloud for pavement repairs on County-State-Aid-Highways 6, 22 and 23 for an estimated cost of $39,090. Public Works Director Phil Schmalz also asked the Board for a resolution of support for a Minnesota Highway Freight Funding grant that he is applying for to help fund a possible future improvement project at the intersection of County-State-Aid-Highway 34 and U.S. Highway 12.
The Meeker County Board also received an update from Judy Hulterstrum about the LAMP/Kinship program; received an annual report from Facilities Manager Joel Ramthun; and heard a report from Meeker Memorial CEO Mary Ellen Wells.
