The Minnesota State Patrol responded to a crash involving a semi and a Ford Focus on Sunday morning at 7:12 in Gennessee Township in Kandiyohi County. The 2006 Peterbilt semi was eastbound on Highway 12 and the 2005 Ford Focus was westbound on 12 when the vehicles collided at milepost 85.
The Ford Focus was driven by 18-year-old Jaime Adame of Willmar, who received life-threatening injuries, was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital, and according to the State Patrol, alcohol was involved. The semi was driven by 77-year-old Mervin Edward Kerkoff of Redwood Falls. Also responding to the scene were Atwater Fire Dept., Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s, Atwater Ambulance, Centracare Ambulance, and LifeLink III.
The State Patrol responded to a crash involving a 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle and a 2025 Polaris Ranger in Maine Prairie Township in Stearns County on Saturday afternoon at 12:38. The accident occurred on Highway 55 at milepost 134.
The motorcycle, driven by 40-year-old Lloyd Ardell Tullis of Hutchinson, was eastbound on Highway 55. The Polaris Ranger was driven by 37-year-old Donavon Middendorf of Cold Spring and was also eastbound when the vehicles collided. Tullis received non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Centra Care. Middendorf was not injured. Also responding to the scene were Kimball Fire Dept. and the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.

In 1973, Grand Funk Railroad soared to No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with “We’re An American Band.” The song marked the group’s first of two US chart toppers – the other being “The Loco-Motion.”

The Fall Bazaar at Ostmark Lutheran Church will be on Saturday, October 4th, from 8:30-to-1. There will be morning coffee with rolls, noon lunch, crafts, quilts, canned items, a bake sale, a farmer’s market and more. The church is located at 32721 680th Avenue – south of Watkins.
Gerry Moen says the noon lunch features homemade vegetable beef soup which people can purchase in quart jars to take home, along with BBQs and hot dogs. She says the canned items include rhubarb, peach, jalapeno and peony jams, dill pickles, pickled green beans and more.
Moen says there will be all kinds of items available on the bake sale; lots of craft items; and all kinds of garden produce at the farmer’s market like apples, squash and pumpkins. She says this is the 50th year of the Ostmark Bazaar so they will have some commemorative recipe booklets available.
Moen says they only have about 35 copies of the recipe booklet available. Proceeds from the Bazaar will go to mission projects and to Meeker Area Ministries.
A man was seriously injured following a crash on Highway 4 in Danielson Township – about 3 miles north of Cosmos at 170th Street on Sunday morning around 6 a.m. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, 21-year-old Tristan Roufs of Cosmos was going north on Highway 4 by 170th Street when he lost control of his pick-up truck and rolled into the ditch. Roufs was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
