How are Minnesota ranchers reacting to Trump’s plan to import beef?

Starting Tuesday, the first imports of 300,000 metric tons of beef are set to enter the U.S. President Trump announced the imports last week, requiring this beef to be sold at 25 percent below the market price, to help lower the high prices of beef.

However, there is uncertainty where this beef is coming from, which brought a strong response from U.S. ranchers.

MPR News host Clay Masters spoke with Kaitlyn Root, the Minnesota State Cattlemen’s executive director and beef quality assurance coordinator, about the concerns Minnesota ranchers have with the new imports.
