Alabama Guests Schedule
The 54th annual Peanut Butter & Milk Festival officially began this past weekend with the arrival of ten Hartford, Alabama residents in Meeker County. The group has a busy week ahead – touring many farms and businesses around the area and enjoying some outdoor winter activities.
Loree Schultz says they had a busy day already yesterday – visiting the Darwin Twine Ball, snowmobiling and ATV-riding at the Roger & Janet Huhn Farm, and enjoying a chili and soup supper at the Forest City Threshers Building last evening. She says during today’s Dairy Day, they will tour Schiefelbein Farms, Ahlgren Dairy, Jomas Hill Vineyard, First District Assn., and Ru-Be Dairy.
Schultz says the Southern guests will travel to Benson tomorrow to see the Mini-Sota Agricultural Museum, and then they’ll return to Litchfield to visit Ramsey Printing and Doosan Bobcat. She says they will get to do some ice fishing later tomorrow on Lake Ripley.
Schultz says the FFA Alumni will be getting the fishing licenses for the Alabama guests. She says on Wednesday, they will go to Steffes Auctioneers, Litchfield High School, the Litchfield Area Recreation Center and Litchfield Civic Arena, IRD Glass and Bushmills Ethanol.
Schultz says the Alabama visitors will be interviewed on KLFD at McDonald’s on Thursday morning, then travel up to Mies Outland and to Powder Ridge where Meeker Energy/Vibrant Broadband will treat them to skiing and tubing. She says the public is welcome to attend a potluck banquet on Thursday evening at the St. Philip’s Church Social Hall with social time at 6:30 and a silent auction and dinner at 7 p.m. – bring a dish to share.
Schultz says the Southern guests will go to Turck’s Trees and Towmaster on Friday morning and then to the G.A.R. Hall and the Forest City Stockade Friday afternoon, and then they will head back to Alabama early Saturday morning. She says she’d like to thank everyone who donates in many ways to make this special Peanut Butter & Milk Festival week possible each year.
