Alabama Guests Tour the G.A.R. Hall & Museum

The G.A.R. Hall and Meeker County Museum in Litchfield was a busy place yesterday. The guests from Alabama, who are in town this week for the 53rd annual Peanut Butter & Milk Festival, toured the facility.
Museum Executive Director Danelle Erickson says the monthly Genealogy Hour also took place at the museum yesterday. She says the G.A.R. Hall will be hosting its monthly Civic War Roundtable next Thursday, February 13th, at 1:30 p.m. with author Paul Hodnefield speaking about “Sherman’s Woodticks.”
Erickson says they occasionally change some of their exhibits and they are getting ready to celebrate Women’s History Month in March. She says if you have an artifact you might want to donate to the museum, call the museum first to see if they have room for it or if they already have the item on display – and it should have something to do with Meeker County. The Meeker County Museum at 308 North Marshall Avenue is open Tuesdays through Fridays from 10-to-4 and Saturdays from noon-to-4. For more information, go to meekercomuseum.org.
