Barb Loch Retires After a Long Career Serving Meeker County

After a lengthy career serving Meeker County, Barb Loch retired yesterday as Property Records, Taxation and Elections Manager. She was originally elected as Meeker County Auditor back in 2002.
Loch says her position became an appointed position in 2022 so she no longer had to run for reelection and the title changed as some of the duties in the various Meeker County departments was rearranged a bit in recent years. She says she had been working in various positions in Litchfield since 1978 and then joined the Auditor’s office in 1999 when Darlene Groskreutz was the Auditor.
Loch says elections took up a lot of her time and voting has changed over the years with more people opting to vote early or to mail in their ballots. She says another big change recently occurred when her office and many other county departments moved from the Court House to the Family Services Center which is now known as the Meeker County Government Center.
Loch says Holly Nelson has been appointed to take over her position. She says she’s worked with many wonderful people over the years in Meeker County and will miss the people with whom she’s developed friendships.
Loch says she has no big plans for retirement, but will have more time to devote to gardening and for attending the activities of her 8 grandchildren. She says she and her husband, David Laabs, will maybe have time now to go on a vacation and do some traveling.
