Bus Driver Appreciation Day

Today is Bus Driver Appreciation Day. It’s a great opportunity to thank the drivers who transport our children to and from school and to other events.

Lyle Hicks from Hicks Bus in Litchfield says several children each year reward their drivers with cards and small gifts on this special day. He says the drivers are a special group of people.

Hicks says they are always in need of bus drivers, and they offer training to help them get their Class-B license. He says another incentive now is that the State of Minnesota approved of unemployment for bus drivers during the summer months.

Mike Hicks would like to remind motorists to be cautious and to obey the school bus stop arms. He says there has been an unusually high number of bus stop arm violations this year.
