Car/Bicycle Accident in Whitefield Township
The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office responded to a car/bicycle accident on Wednesday evening at 7:37 on 120th Avenue Southeast – in Whitefield Township. A 54-year-old man on the bike was killed.
The crash occurred just east of 15th Street Southeast. A 2013 Chrysler minivan, driven by a 59-year-old Lake Lillian woman was eastbound on 120th Avenue Southeast and was overtaking the eastbound bicycle – operated by a 54-year-old Lake Lillian man. As the minivan passed the bicyclist in the westbound lane, the bicyclist entered the westbound lane and was struck by the minivan. The man, identified as Timothy Cayler, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Blomkest Fire Dept., Blomkest First Responders, Kandiyohi County Rescue Squad and the Minnesota State Patrol. The crash is under investigation by the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Minnesota State Patrol.
