The Litchfield City Council heard a presentation Monday evening from Matt Kadelbach – president of the Litchfield Fire Department Relief Association. The Council voted in favor of a request from the Relief Association to increase the per-years of service upon retirement amount from $2400 to $3400.
Mayor Ron Dingmann says the Relief Association has $1.2-million in assets, but a liability of $805,000 for possible future retirements. He says the only risk to the City would be if the stock market took a nose dive and they would have to cover any shortfalls.
Mayor Dingmann says the Council also had a visit from Dassel Mayor Bob Lalone and City Administrator Renee Eckerly with a request for the Litchfield Police Dept. to consider providing policing services to Dassel in the future. He says Meeker County currently provides that service, but Dassel is looking at other options and the Council tabled any action until a the new Council takes over in January.
Mayor Dingmann says there was some discussion Monday evening about the on-going downtown façade grant program so a work session will be held at 4:15 on November 16th to help get more questions answered about the project. He says the Litchfield City Council also appointed Jacob Gertken to the Library Board for a term that expires at the end of 2027. The Litchfield City Council will be canvassing votes from yesterday’s election on November 9th.
