Civic War Roundtable Topic is on Salt

The Meeker County Historical Society had a good turn-out of people for the annual Memorial Day Picnic on May 26th. The event is a major fundraiser each year for the organization.
Meeker County Museum and G.A.R. Hall Executive Director Danelle Erickson says they appreciate the support they receive each year. She says the museum also hosted a lot of school tours during the month of May.
Erickson says the monthly Civil War Roundtable discussion will be taking place next Thursday – June 12th – at 1:30 p.m. at the G.A.R. Hall. The topic this time will be on salt.
Erickson says the museum will be closed on July 4th and 5th for the Independence Day holiday, but they will have some extended hours on July 12th as people are milling around Central Park for the Watercade celebration. She says they will have a booth at the Meeker County Fair again this summer and will have historical items on display and people can try to guess what they are.
The G.A.R. Hall and Meeker County Museum at 308 North Marshall Avenue in Litchfield is open Tuesdays through Fridays from 10-to-4 and on Saturdays from noon-to-4. For more information, go to meekercomuseum.org or look for the museum’s Facebook page.
