Governor Walz Issues Writs of Special Election to Fill Two Senate Vacancies

Governor Tim Walz has issued two writs of special election to fill the vacancies in the State Senate formerly held by the late Senator Bruce Anderson and Senator Nicole Mitchell who resigned.  Special elections to fill the vacancies in Districts 29 and 47 will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.  If necessary, special primary elections for nomination of candidates will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.  Affidavits of candidacy and nominating petitions may be filed with the Secretary of State or the county auditors of Hennepin, Meeker, or Wright Counties (for District 29) or the county auditors of Ramsey and Washington Counties (for District 47) through August 6th.
