Grove City Area CARE October Fest Dinner
The annual Grove City Area CARE October Fest Dinner will be held on Sunday from 4-to-6:30 p.m. in the South Grove Gymnasium on South 3rd Street in Grove City. The dinner is an important fundraiser for the CARE program.
Meeker County Commissioner Steve Schmitt has been on the CARE board for 7 years and calls the Grove City Area CARE program the best kept secret of western Meeker County. He says outreach is provided to seniors from Manannah to Cosmos and throughout the area to help keep seniors living safely in their own homes.
Schmitt says the programs offered by Grove City Area CARE help to save costs to the Meeker County Health & Human Services budget and it is more personal care as people who know each other look out for one another. He says the menu for Sunday’s dinner includes pulled pork, beef sausage, sauerkraut, potato salad, beans, bars and beverages.
CARE Volunteer Coordinator Rosie Dilley says the cost for the meal this year is $14 and it’s $6 for children 10 and under. She says they are going to have a raffle this year in which you can place tickets in jars in front of items that you wish to win.
Dilley says you need not be present for the drawing as they will call you if you win. She says there will also be Grandma’s cookie walk, a farmer’s market, crafts and a kid’s corner. Tickets for the dinner in advance are available at the CARE office, Grove Bank or from any CARE board member, but they can also be purchased for the same price at the door.
