Grove City Area CARE Octoberfest Fundraiser
The Octoberfest fundraising event for Grove City Area CARE will be on Sunday, October 13th from 4-to-6:30 p.m. in the South Grove Square gym. There will be a roast pork and turkey dinner.
CARE Volunteer Coordinator Rosie Dilley says the cost for the dinner is $12 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under. She says there’s also a silent auction, crafts, farmers market, drawings for $50 gift cards to Grove City businesses and Grandma’s cookie walk.
Dilley says the CARE program applies for funds from the Dept. of Human Services, but they also rely on donations and they raise money with events like Sunday’s Octoberfest to keep the program operating. She says they have all kinds of activities for local seniors and they partner with other organizations to help keep the elderly living in their own homes as long as possible.
Dilley says they have volunteers who provide rides, run errands and deliver meals-on-wheels for seniors in the Grove City area. She says people attending Sunday’s dinner should enter the South Grove Gym on the west side of the old school building on 3rd Street in Grove City.
Steve Schmitt says he joined the Grove City Area CARE board 6 years ago as a county commissioner for the Grove City area. He says from a social service viewpoint, the county views the Grove City Area CARE program as a great asset as it cuts down on social service programs that would be needed by those who benefit from Grove City Area CARE.
Tickets in advance for Sunday’s dinner in Grove City are available at the CARE office or at Grove Bank, but you can purchase them at the door.
