Motorcycle Pursuit
The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office was involved in a high-speed pursuit of a motorcycle on Sunday morning. The incident began at 2:26 Sunday morning in Green Lake Township.
A sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop the motorcycle for a traffic violation in the area of Highway 23 and County Road 9 Northeast. The motorcycle passed the deputy’s location at a speed of over 130 miles-per-hour and continued speeding to evade the deputy. The deputy pursued the motorcycle as it traveled south – exiting onto Lakeland Drive in Willmar.
The deputy pursued the motorcycle for 8-miles and eventually the pursuit was terminated due to the motorcyclist’s recklessness. A short time later, the motorcycle and driver were located, attempting to hide behind a business in the 1300 block of Litchfield Avenue SE. The driver was placed under arrest for fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, reckless driving, underage drinking and driving, and speeding. The incident remains under investigation. The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Willmar Police Department.
