Litchfield City Council Handles a Couple of Items Concerning the Airport

The Litchfield City Council handled a couple of items on Monday evening concerning the airport. City Engineer Chuck DeWolf will seek bids for a project to upgrade the fuel system at the airport and will notify Mn/DOT of the City’s plan to seek a grant for the project.

Mayor Ron Dingmann says the grant would help to split the cost of the project with the state responsible for $60,000 and Litchfield responsible for $40,000. He says the Council also received a request from Mike Hicks Monday evening for Hicks Trucking & Bus to purchase a sliver of land that the city owns next to the airport. The first step in the process is for Bolton & Menk to contact the FAA since the land was purchased with federal and state funds back in the 1980s when the airport was built.

Mayor Dingmann says the Council will have its performance review of Administrator Dave Czoik at the September 15th meeting and Czoik will be presenting his state of the city address right before that. He says the Personnel Committee has also requested that the Council have a training session with a League of Minnesota Cities official at a future work session to review meeting protocols to allow for smoother meetings.

Mayor Dingmann says the Council will be seeking bids for 2 or 3 transformers for the electric upgrade project which will cost the city between $10-to-12-million dollars. He says the Council also approved of a bid from Summit Fire Protection for approximately $105,000 to replace the leaking sprinkler system at City Hall.
