Litchfield City Wide Clean-Up Day

The Litchfield city-wide clean-up day will be on May 17th from 8-to-10:30 a.m. in the Litchfield Civic Arena parking lot. All loads should line up on either 10th Street or Armstrong Avenue north, and the cost is $25 per load.
Keith Johnson says the $25 fee includes one TV or computer monitor and one box spring or mattress, and it’s $5 each for each additional one of those items. He says it’s a nice service that the City provides for people to get rid of junk and he started it a few years ago when he was the mayor of Litchfield.
Johnson says they do not accept hazardous items like paint, tires or shingles, and if you have the exact amount of cash, it would be helpful – and they also take checks, but they do not take credit cards. He says you need to bring your ID or a utility bill to prove that you are a Litchfield resident.
Johnson says they also will do curbside pick-up that morning for seniors over 70 or disabled residents, but you need to fill out a form at City Hall by this Monday – May 12th – in order to get on the pick-up route. Call 693-7201 for more information. He says some of the Lions Club members help with the event and they are also getting help this time from members of the Litchfield High School baseball team.
