Litchfield School Board Meeting
The Litchfield School Board has approved of hiring a secondary paraprofessional to support secondary English Learning students in grades 8 through 12 as they transition into high school and prepare for graduation. The Board also approved of adding pay for translation services to the miscellaneous rates sheet at $25 per hour.
Superintendent Susan Burris brought the requests for the English Learning needs to the Board and several people in the audience spoke up in favor of the new paraprofessional position prior to the positive vote on the measure.
The Board also approved of a transportation agreement for 2025-27 with Hicks Bus. Business Manager Jesse Johnson says they issued a request for proposal for transportation services in March and received one proposal – from Hicks Bus. He says – at over $2-million – transportation represents about 9% of the Litchfield School District’s budget.
Also last night, Elementary Principal Chris Olson, along with Monica Wedin, presented a literacy update and went through details of the Read Act for 2024-25 in five areas of focus: infrastructure, curriculum, family engagement, assessment and data, and professional development.
