Litchfield School Board Meeting
The Litchfield School Board met last night and heard a report from Superintendent Susan Burris who reported that all is going well with the start of the school year. She says all three principals and Lyle Hicks from Hicks Bus agree that the year has started well.
Burris also reviewed her goals for 2025-2026 with a focus on connection, collaboration and coherence. She says she was able to take what she learned in her first year as superintendent and tie it into what she feels are the next steps.
Burris also noted that September is School Board Appreciation Month and she thanked the board members for all that they do. Board Chair Alex Carlson spoke about the all staff welcome event which was held the last week of August and Peter and Malinda Larson gave a great message about Peter’s positivity in a challenging situation. The Litchfield High School sophomore has been battling cancer this past year. Carlson also reported that Sunday’s open house at the Litchfield Area Recreation Center was well-attended.
Also last night, in the Consent Agenda, the Litchfield School Board approved of the first reading of a policy regarding student dress and appearance. The first statement in the policy encourages students to be dressed suitably (or appropriately) for school activities and in keeping with community standards.
