Litchfield School Board Meeting
The Litchfield School Board had a visit last night from participants in the Adaptive Bowling program. Students in the program recently did very well in their state bowling tournament.
Tyler Storm, who co-coaches Adaptive Bowling with Amy Terning, says Donnie Weimer came in second place in the state tournament. He says there are 7 students in the program which is open to 7th through 12th graders and they got a send-off to their state tournament – including being serenaded by the Litchfield High School Band. Storm says the Litchfield Eagles Club has been their sponsor and they got a great deal from the Litchfield Bowling Center. Donnie says they got to go bowling on Wednesdays and he will be on the team again next year.
The Student Council representatives gave their final report to the Litchfield School Board last night. President Kelsey Palmer will be going to Gustavus Adolphus to major in accounting, and Vice President Kala Ziegler will be going to UMD to study cellular molecular biology.
The Litchfield School Board had a discussion about a preliminary needs list. Several projects are on the list for all of the school district’s facilities with a total cost of over $20,000,000. The District is looking ahead to November for a possible building referendum question on the ballot, along with an operating levy.
Also last night, the Litchfield School Board approved of a resolution accepting donations including: $5,000 from Meeker Memorial Hospital for an extra summer weight room coach; $575 from Meeker County Farm Bureau Federation and Farm Bureau Financial Services through Michael Niedzielski for the Litchfield Middle School for transportation for the 5th grade farming/ag field trip; $400 from the Litchfield Lions Club for the Litchfield Baseball Team for helping with the city-wide clean up; and $1,000 from Trelleborg Medical Solutions for Litchfield Middle School for the Robotics Program.
