Litchfield School Board Meeting
The Litchfield School Board has authorized ICS officials to seek bids for the 2024 site improvement project. It includes updates to the parking area and bus pick-up area south of Litchfield Middle School and High School and construction of new tennis courts – south of the High School.
There will be a bus entrance from Gilman Avenue with the buses exiting on 10th Street. The estimated cost of the project is $2.2-million. The Board received a presale report from Matt Hammer of Ehlers Public Finance Advisors on the issuance of $1,505,000 which will help pay for the project. The sale date for the bonds is coming up April 8th. The Board also approved of the long-term facilities maintenance and operating capital plan which Business Manager Jesse Johnson had presented at the last meeting on February 26th.
The Litchfield School Board heard mid-year reports last night from High School Principal Jason Michels, Activities Director Justin Brown, and Community Education Director Grant Solem. Michels said that graduation this year will be on Saturday, June 1st, at 11 a.m. Brown said that the Marching Band will have a “Big Top” theme this summer. Solem said that the Community Theatre had a successful winter show with “Murder on the Orient Express,” and will be doing “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” this summer – with the Youth Theatre producing “Spongebob Jr.” this spring.
Among the personnel items approved in the consent agenda was the resignation of Donna Peterson as Middle School Secretary effective July 31st of 2024 for the purpose of retirement. Donna has been with the Litchfield School District for 25 years.
The Litchfield School Board passed a resolution approving of donations including $5,000 from Litchfield Golf Club Inc for High School Girls Golf; $5,000 from Litchfield Golf Club Inc for High School Boys Golf; $655 from the LDC Hockey Boosters for High School girls hockey for charter bus transportation; and $200 each from Simply Good and from R&R Camper for Litchfield High School Robotics.
