Litchfield School Board Meeting

The Litchfield School Board has approved of revised agreements with the City of Litchfield for the Litchfield Area Recreation Center. The amended agreements will satisfy some concerns from the State of Minnesota.
Business Manager Jesse Johnson says the School District and the City previously approved of a single unified agreement, but, during the state-level legal review by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development and Minnesota Management and Budget, state officials requested that the combined agreement be split into two distinct, stand-alone contracts to align with statutory compliance standards. A joint powers relative contribution agreement was approved along with a facility use agreement between the School District and City of Litchfield.
The School Board approved of the READ Act memorandum of understanding last night and approved of the Project Momentum memorandum of understanding. A memorandum of understanding was also approved on a 4-to-1 vote, with Greg Mathews opposed, for a pay schedule for the Middle School Activities Director position.
Student Council representatives Paizli Johnson and Cole Palmer gave the Board details about some upcoming events that they are coordinating, including the Boo Bash which will be held this Saturday at the Litchfield Area Recreation Center from 9-to-11 a.m. for children from 6th grade and younger which will include numerous activities; and a blood drive scheduled for November 12th at the Litchfield Area Recreation Center.
Also last night, the Litchfield School Board approved of a resolution accepting donations including $100 from Tim Bergstrom for Litchfield High School FFA National Convention expenses; $235 from Ramsey Printing for Litchfield High School for football/homecoming shirt donation; $700 from Men’s Slow Pitch Softball for Litchfield High School for the girls softball program; and $5,000 from Lee Hollaar for Litchfield High School for start-up funding for the Dragon Fabrication store.
