Litchfield School District Update
Litchfield Superintendent of Schools Susan Burris had to make her first weather-related decision of the season on Tuesday as the weather forecast looked threatening. A decision was made to cancel Tuesday evening activities.
Burris says students may have been able to get to activities safely, but by the time the events would have ended, the roads were very slick. She says there was no school on Wednesday for students as it was a staff development day.
Burris says students will be in school until noon on December 23rd before the holiday break begins and staff will have another development time that afternoon. She says the Litchfield School Board is going to have a workshop on December 8th at 4:45 – prior to the regular meeting and truth-in-taxation hearing – to proactively talk about possible future capital improvement projects.
Burris says ICS officials will have information for school board members and if the board would decide to go to voters next November with a bond question, they will have plenty of time to get everything organized. She says the Board will decide on December 8th whether it will be necessary to have a second December meeting – on the 22nd.
Burris says they had visitors at the November 24th School Board meeting from the Cross-Country and Girls Tennis Teams, and members of the football team will visit the Board on December 8th to talk about their successful season. She says the pool renovation project is underway at the high school and should be completed by early January.
