Meeker County Fair
The Meeker County Fair is coming up at the end of next week – August 3rd through the 6th.
Several fun events are planned throughout the four days of the fair.
Meeker County Fair Treasurer Loree Schultz says Entry Day is August 2nd, and then – the first
day of the Fair, August 3rd, is Veterans Day with free admission for veterans and active duty
military members. She says the Kingery Family will perform in the bandshell at noon that day
and the grandstand attraction that night will be a tractor pull at 7 p.m.
Schultz says you can get into the fair free on Thursday and Friday from 11-to-1 for lunch if you
are wearing your company apparel or show a business card. She says Friday, August 4th, is
Senior Day with lots of senior-related events planned, and then recording artist Frankie Ballard
will perform in the grandstand August 4th at 7:30 p.m.
Schultz says Saturday, August 5th, is Kids Day and there will be a pedal pull starting at 9:30 a.m.
and all kinds of kid’s activities, several appearances by Sherwin Linton in the bandshell, and
Motokazie supercross in the grandstand at 6 p.m. She says Sunday, August 6th is Sparkle Day so
reigning queens and princesses and a chaperone can be admitted for free, and there’s a church
service at 10 a.m. in the bandshell, a demolition derby in the grandstand at 1 p.m., Lego contest
at 1:45, trolley rides and more.
Schultz says the Fair Frenzy raffle will be held again and by purchasing a $50 ticket, you qualify
for 12 cash prizes including the first prize of $5,000. She says there will be cash prize drawings
each night at 10 p.m., and on Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. as 5 people will each receive $100
during each of the 4 drawings. For more information, go to meekerfair.com.
Judy Hulterstrum from the Litchfield Visitors Bureau says the Meeker County Fair is just one of
numerous events taking place in Litchfield during the month of August. She says the Minnesota
Trappers will have their convention at the Fairgrounds August 10th through the 12th and the State
Amateur Baseball Tournament will take place over 3 weekends beginning August 18th and they
are looking for volunteers to help with that event.
Hulterstrum says the Songs of Summer Festival will be held at the Litchfield Civic Arena August
18th and the Forest City Threshers Show and the Forest City Stockade Rendezvous will both take
place August 19th and 20th – so there will be plenty of things to do in the Litchfield Area during
the month of August. She says you can get more information at 693-8184.
