Miss Litchfield Candidates Kate & Ella

Six candidates are vying for the title of Miss Litchfield as the 68th annual Watercace celebration approaches July 11th to 14th. A new Miss Litchfield will be crowned during the coronation on July 14th at 4 p.m. in the Bernie Aaker Auditorium.
The candidates are being interviewed this week on KLFD’s “Newsmaker” program and two of them spoke on the show yesterday – Kate Brekke and Ella Mahoney. Kate Brekke is the daughter of Jamie & Teresa Brekke and is sponsored by Danner, Brekke & Everts Insurance and the Medicare Duo. She says she’s been involved in golf, FCCLA, FCA, National Honor Society and managing the gymnastics team in high school and is planning to go to college in Arizona next year when she is done with high school. Brekke says she’s running for Miss Litchfield as a way to meet new people and to represent the community in a unique way.

Brekke says she’s enjoyed the parade and the coronation during past Watercade celebrations. She’s encouraging people to participate in the 4-mile run on July 13th at 7:30 a.m. at Memorial Park, and the candidate and royalty car wash this Thursday, June 27th, from noon-to-2 in the Family Fare parking lot.
Ella Mahoney is the daughter of Mark & Ann Mahoney and is sponsored by Kinsella Chiropractic. She says her high school activities have included swimming, band, choir, marching band and National Honor Society. She says she plans to attend college next year after finishing high school, but hasn’t decided where yet. Mahoney says she’s running for Miss Litchfield as a way to get involved in the community.

Mahoney says she has enjoyed Art-in-the-Park and the parade during past Watercade celebrations, and she’s encouraging people to attend the Beach Party at 6 p.m. on July 12th at Memorial Park followed by the fireworks at dusk. For more Watercade information, go to watercade.com.
