Oratorical Contest Winner

The Nelsan-Horton American Legion Post 104 of Litchfield held its Oratorical Contest on January 28th at Litchfield High School. Litchfield High School senior William Pennertz was the first place winner.
William is the son of Richard & Heidi Pennertz of Litchfield, and he will receive a $500 scholarship. William Pennertz qualified to go on to compete at the District 7 contest in Willmar.
The Oratorical Contest asks students to prepare an 8-to-10-minute oration on some aspect of the U.S. Constitution with an emphasis on citizen’s duties and obligations to our government. The first place winner in the District contest wins an $800 scholarship and that person goes on to the state contest February 22nd where the first place scholarship is $1,500. The national contest will be held May 16th through the 18th in Hillsdale, Michigan where first place is a $25,000 scholarship.
