Parents of Ryane Clark Pick up a Memorial From Fort Bragg
Rick and Tracy Clark of New London returned from a trip to North Carolina Sunday where they picked up an office door from the U.S. Army base at Fort Bragg. Rick Clark says the door was a memorial to their son, Specialist Ryane Clark, who was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2010.
Clark says when Ryane’s unit moved to another part of the base, their commander offered the door to the Clarks. Rick and Tracy jumped in their pick-up and went to North Carolina and got the door. On the way home they stopped and attended a picnic for Gold Star Fathers in Nashville, put on by Gary Sinise’s Families of Fallen Heroes organization.
Tracy Clark says she’s not sure what the long-term plans for the memorial door are. Last year, the Minnesota Legislature named a portion of Highway 23 near New London after Ryane Clark, and a memorial to him sits along the Glacial Lakes State Trail near the family’s home.
