Peanut Butter & Milk Festival Committe Meeting
The Peanut Butter & Milk Festival Committee met on Tuesday evening. Members of the group have been mourning the loss of long-time Sister-City Committee member Cary Hatcher from Hartford, Alabama.
Hatcher passed away on May 11th while she was on a European tour. Her husband is long-time former Geneva County High School FFA Advisor Stacy Hatcher. Stacy and Cary have hosted numerous Meeker County residents at their home over the years during the annual exchange trip in November and they have both been part of the group from Hartford, Alabama attending the annual Peanut Butter & Milk Festival in Meeker County in February several years in the past.
Cary Hatcher’s memorial service is this Saturday at Harford Baptist Church. The Peanut Butter & Milk Festival Committee members agreed to send flowers for the service and to also send a memorial donation to one of Cary’s favorite community organizations in Hartford.
Also during Tuesday’s meeting, the members signed up for shifts to work at the Meeker County American Dairy Association booth during the Meeker County Fair in August, and also signed up to help during Center Bank’s brat feed during Litchfield’s Watercade celebration on July 11th.
The four Litchfield High School FFA students who have been selected to travel to Alabama in November for the annual exchange trip – Riley Joyer, Claire Gabrielson, Lydia Schultz and Tanner Sonsalla – will be helping during those summer fundraisers. FFA students will also be helping during Cheeseburger Days June 6th and 7th from 11-to-1 each day at the Fieldgate Cheese store.
The next Peanut Butter & Milk Festival Committee meeting will be on September 17th at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome to get involved.
