Peanut Butter & Milk Festival Wrap Up

The 53rd annual Peanut Butter & Milk Festival concluded on Saturday as the guests from Alabama returned home. The sister-city exchange program between Litchfield, Minnesota and Hartford, Alabama began in the fall of 1971 – thanks to Bruce Cottington.
PB&M Festival President Terri Anderson says the program would not have continued all of these years without so much support from the community. She says they receive donations from individuals, businesses and service clubs and there are so many events that are sponsored throughout the special week each year.
Anderson says a lot of planning goes into the Festival each February, but there is a great committee, board members and FFA students who work hard to make it all possible. She says she got to join the Alabama guests last Wednesday as they traveled to the Mall of America and to the State Capitol – in the midst of a massive protest that was taking place outside on the steps – and Litchfield native Brian Pease gave them a great tour inside.
Anderson says they had a great turn-out for the chili/soup supper and to the potluck banquet last week, and they’re always looking for people to travel to Alabama in November to represent Litchfield during the exchange week in Hartford. She says she has been able to travel there as a delegate 3 times, and it’s an amazing experience.
The next Peanut Butter & Milk Festival Committee meeting will be on February 18th at 7 p.m. in the Litchfield High School Ag Room. The Committee will talk about what went well last week and about what could be improved. Anyone is welcome to get involved.
