Turkey Barn Fire in Swede Grove Township

On Sunday morning at 9:15, the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a turkey barn fire in the 33000 block of 560th Avenue in Swede Grove Township. A Meeker County Deputy responded along with the Grove City Fire Department, Atwater Fire Department, Eden Valley Fire Department, and Litchfield Fire Department.

Upon arrival, fire personnel found one barn completely engulfed in flames that had collapsed from the damage. No injuries were reported and no turkeys were in the barn at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire is unknown but believed to be an equipment malfunction.
