Two Council Members Resign

The Litchfield City Council will be meeting on Monday, November 9th, to canvass the votes from the November 3rd election. Another topic of discussion at the meeting will be the recent resignations of two council members. Bob Powers and Darlene Kotelnicki both handed in letters of resignation on November 4th.

The administration did a preliminary review of the appointment process and will provide council options during the November 16th council meeting. During the special November 9th meeting, the Council will introduce resolutions declaring vacancies in the Ward 2 and Ward 5 seats.

Powers’ Ward 5 term expires on December 31st of this year. Sara Miller was elected on November 3rd to begin serving in Ward 5 in January. Kotelnicki’s Ward 2 term expires on December 31st of 2028. Powers, Kotelnicki and Coucil Member-at-Large Malinda Larson all ran for mayor and Larson won the election on November 3rd. Her seat will also need to be filled when she takes over as mayor in January.
