Vehicle Pursuit in Gennessee Township
The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office received a report at 5:10 Wednesday morning of a vehicle that had struck several road signs and was traveling east on U.S. Highway 12 in Gennessee Township. The vehicle also narrowly avoided making contact with a semi-tractor trailer.
Deputies located the vehicle on Highway 12 near 60th Street Northeast. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver did not stop and was driving over the center line, the fog line and on to the shoulder. The vehicle was also eastbound in the westbound lane of Highway 12. The vehicle went from 60 mph to 20 mph and a deputy did a pursuit intervention technique which was unsuccessful, but then the vehicle stopped near 135th Street Northeast. The driver did not initially comply with verbal commands and it was then discovered that the driver was experiencing a medical emergency. The driver was transported to Rice Hospital for treatment by Atwater Ambulance.
